AI training apps for cyclists and runners, compared
Blocks is an AI-native training platform: the assistant is what the product is built around, and the same assistant works inside Claude or any AI agent that speaks MCP. Here is where it sits next to the apps people usually weigh it against. Prices and features are read off each app’s own site, September 2026.

- Choose TrainingPeaks if you have a human coach who works in TrainingPeaks. Blocks vs TrainingPeaks

Questions
What is the best AI training app for cyclists and runners?
It depends on how you want the AI to work. If you want an assistant that reads your real rides, readiness and plan and answers from sourced sports science, Blocks is built for that and is free to start. If you want a fully automated indoor cycling plan, TrainerRoad. If you train with a human coach, TrainingPeaks. If you want free analytics and plan yourself, intervals.icu.
Which training app works inside Claude or ChatGPT?
Blocks, AI Endurance, Stride and IntervalCoach offer an official MCP connector. Blocks' connector is free and needs no subscription: add https://blocks.zone/api/mcp as a custom connector in Claude, or in any MCP client.
Is Blocks free?
The calendar, workout builder, Strava and intervals.icu sync, the workout catalog and the MCP connector are free. The in-app assistant runs on prepaid credit packs from $10.99. There is no subscription. Using Blocks through your own Claude does not spend Blocks credits.
Does Blocks replace a coach?
No. Blocks is an assistant: it reads your data, drafts and adjusts the plan, and explains the science behind it, and you decide. Every change is shown to you before it is written.
Which devices and services does Blocks work with?
Activities come in from Strava and intervals.icu. Planned workouts push to Wahoo and export to Zwift, Garmin (.FIT), MyWhoosh, TrainerRoad and intervals.icu. Sleep, HRV and resting heart rate come from Oura and WHOOP.
